About InkStone

A studio built around the work.

InkStone Literary brings writers, editors, researchers, translators and production specialists together under one editorial standard, so that authors can find the right expertise without assembling a team themselves.

Our Story

Writers rarely need only one kind of help. A manuscript that needs structural work often needs a copyedit afterwards; a finished book needs a cover, a typeset interior, metadata, a plan for reaching readers. Finding each of those separately is slow, and the work rarely joins up.

InkStone Literary was founded to solve that. We assembled a team across 14 disciplines so an author can begin a conversation in one place and stay there through every stage — with the same people, holding the same standard, reading the same book.

We are not a publisher and we are not an agency. We are the working team between the draft you have and the book you intend, and we say plainly what we can and cannot do.

What We Believe

Four things we will not compromise on.

Craft
We care about language at the level of the sentence, and about structure at the level of the book. Both deserve attention, and neither is negotiable.
Collaboration
We work with authors, not simply on their words. Decisions are explained, queries are raised rather than resolved silently, and the final call is always the author's.
Perspective
A manuscript exists in a context — a readership, a market, a tradition. We keep that wider view in mind while working line by line.
Care
Every project arrives with years of effort behind it. We treat it with the seriousness that effort deserves.
